The Mindanao State University System Board of Regents (BOR) elects Dr. Anshari P. Ali as new chancellor of Mindanao State University- General Santos campus. Ali is the University’s 6th in the line of chancellors since 1973.
The election came after the BOR met at the Commission on Higher Education Central Office Saturday, December 15. Ali’s election for the five-year term chancellorship takes effect December 16, 2018.
Dr. Ali is also a Shariah lawyer having passed the Sharia Bar Examination of the Supreme Court in 1991 and has worked as Acting Assistant Dean of the College of Law Marawi Extension since 2013 at MSU College of Education Training Department campus.
Ranking Professor VI at the University, Ali finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Civilization specializing in Jurisprudence at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization, International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur in 2002.
The 2018 election for the University’s top seat was Ali’s second bid for leadership. The College of Law Extension has produced 28 new lawyers in the 2017 BAR Exam.
As many are hopeful for the incoming chancellor, succeeding Atty. Abdurrahman T. Canacan whose two terms (2007-2018) marked MSU-General Santos’ various infrastructures, programs accreditation, ISO certification, research and extension services, Ali is known to be a kind, soft spoken fellow among professors and law students who has brought improvements at the College of Law.
